About
Valentino Vigneri is a Lecturer in the Department of Civil, Environmental and Geomatic Engineering at ETH Zurich. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Luxembourg and M.Sc. from Politecnico di Torino, with research exchanges at Imperial College London.
His research advances steel-concrete composite structures, focusing on shear connection mechanics, fire performance, and reliability-based design methods. Experimental and numerical investigations develop predictive models for headed stud behavior in profiled sheeting, informing European design code revisions (EN 1994-1-1).
Current projects investigate longitudinal shear transfer in composite steel truss-concrete beams using fiber optical sensor measurements. His work supports standardization committees through technical reports validating new design equations.
Vigneri teaches graduate courses on composite structure design and contributes to continuing education programs for engineering professionals.
