Val Mitchell

Dr. Val Mitchell is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Design and Creative Arts and Programme Lead for the User Experience and Service Design MA at Loughborough University. She combines academic research with industry practice through her part-time secondment at Snook, a leading UK service design agency.

Her interdisciplinary research spans 25 years, focusing on human-centred design methodologies, creative co-design tools, and the development of future technologies and services. She specializes in methodological research at disciplinary intersections, particularly in game audio, interactive media, and service design applications.

Current Practice: At Snook, she serves as Academic Lead for Learning, supporting client projects as a UX designer, developing organizational strategies, and designing/delivering training for commercial and public sector partners including the NHS.
