Ute Mager

Prof. Dr. Ute Mager is a full Professor of Public Law at Heidelberg University's Faculty of Law, serving as Director of the Center for Lawyer-Oriented Legal Education and leading the Institute for German and European Administrative Law. She holds a doctorate (1994) and habilitation (2002) in public law, with research focusing on German/European constitutional/administrative law, environmental law, and higher education governance. Her academic career includes deanships, senate membership (2014–2019), and visiting professorships at Georgetown, Lille, and Université Catholique de Lille.

Education: Law studies in Kiel, Lausanne, and Berlin (supported by DAAD/German Academic Scholarship Foundation), with clerkships at Berlin's Kammergericht and research roles under Professors Pestalozza and Kunig. She has authored foundational textbooks like Constitutional Law I & II (9th/8th ed., 2021/2024) and co-edited volumes on legal education and interdisciplinary law studies.
