Prof. Dr. Peter Axer is a distinguished German legal scholar specializing in social law and public law. Since April 2009, he has held the Chair of Social Law in conjunction with Public Law at Heidelberg University and serves as Director of the Institute for German and European Administrative Law. Additionally, since 2009, he directs the Institute for German, European, and International Health Law and Bioethics at Heidelberg University and Mannheim University. His career includes prior professorships at Siegen (2001) and Trier (2004), where he served as Dean (2008-2009), and part-time judicial service at the State Social Court of Baden-Württemberg (2013-2021). His research focuses on constitutional aspects of social law, health law, and administrative governance.
