Tyler Gibson

Tyler Gibson is a Lecturer at Florida Gulf Coast University’s College of Arts & Sciences, Department of Communication and Philosophy. Joining full-time in 2023, he specializes in Public Speaking and Effective Speaking, blending communication theory with hands-on learning to enhance student confidence and skills. His innovative approach includes hybrid course formats and experiential activities like Speed Comms and influencer-style video assignments.

Tyler actively supports curriculum reform and student engagement. He pioneered FGCU’s hybrid Public Speaking curriculum, emphasizing accessibility and academic rigor. His teaching innovations include peer-led Learning Assistant Programs and experiments with AI-driven instructional tools.

As a faculty partner in FGCU’s R.I.S.E. Program, he developed a progress-tracking template now used university-wide and earned the 2024–2025 Faculty Partner of the Year award. He will serve as faculty advisor for Students & Seniors, fostering intergenerational community ties.

Tyler contributes to campus life through the Student-Faculty Partnership Program, Communication Lab support, and mentorship for FGCU’s Public Speaking Competition. His work reflects FGCU’s mission of academic excellence, student-centered pedagogy, and community impact.
