Troy Conn

Troy Conn is a freelance musician and educator affiliated with the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (UNC Charlotte) and Queens University of Charlotte. As a Lecturer, he teaches Applied Jazz Guitar, Jazz Combo, and Applied Guitar at these institutions.

He holds a Bachelor of Music Performance degree from UNC Charlotte (2002). His career spans performances in France, the UK, and the U.S., including collaborations with artists like Randy Brecker and Eric Marienthal, and participation in festivals such as the Eclats d'Email Jazz Festival and Kinser Jazz Festival.

• Research interests: Jazz, improvisation, guitar techniques, contemporary music, applied music education, and performance pedagogy.

Troy is a member of Charlotte-based ensembles like the Conn/Davis Duo and Jazz Is Led, and he frequently performs at Middle C Jazz. He was honored as a 2023 College of Arts + Architecture Distinguished Alumni at UNC Charlotte.
