About
Dr. Trevor Shepherd is an Associate Professor cross-appointed in Obstetrics & Gynecology, Oncology, and Anatomy & Cell Biology at Western University. His lab focuses on ovarian cancer metastasis mechanisms within the Translational Ovarian Cancer Research Program. Research examines molecular pathways in ascites-derived spheroid models, including LKB1-mediated stress signaling, autophagy survival mechanisms, and EMT plasticity.
Key research areas:
- Bioenergetic stress signaling in metastatic niches
- Therapeutic autophagy inhibition strategies
- Regulation of epithelial-mesenchymal plasticity
- Oncolytic virus efficacy in heterogeneous tumors
Shepherd's publications span ovarian cancer models, spheroid biology, and therapeutic targeting. Recent studies demonstrate advancements in understanding AKT-mediated dormancy and ROS-dependent drug effects.
His laboratory employs three-dimensional culture systems and patient-derived models to study transcoelomic metastasis. Collaborative projects include biomarker discovery and preclinical therapeutic testing.
