About
Travis Evans is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychological Sciences at Auburn University, directing the Social Affect and Behavior Integrative Neuroscience (SABIN) Laboratory. He holds a PhD in clinical psychology from the University of Miami (2019), with postdoctoral training at the VA Boston Healthcare System and Massachusetts General Hospital. His work focuses on neural mechanisms underlying social avoidance in internalizing disorders, employing fMRI, TMS, and computational modeling. Current NIMH-funded research explores fMRI-guided TMS to treat social motivation dysfunction in Major Depressive Disorder and Social Anxiety Disorder.
Education:
- PhD in Clinical Psychology, University of Miami (2019)
- MS in Clinical Psychology, University of Miami
- BS in Psychology, University of Texas, Tyler
Research Interests:
- Neural circuit dysfunction in anxiety and mood disorders
- Social avoidance behavior and motivational systems
- Experimental psychopathology and neuroimaging techniques
- Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) applications
Research Trends: Recent publications emphasize trauma-exposed populations, developmental prosopagnosia, and neurocognitive markers of PTSD. Methodological innovations include novel attention bias measures and fMRI-guided interventions.
