Steven Bruce is a Professor of Psychological Sciences and Director of the Center for Trauma Recovery at the University of Missouri-St. Louis (UMSL). His research focuses on translational studies combining neuroimaging and psychophysiological assessments to understand PTSD treatment outcomes. He leads the Stress, Trauma, Anxiety, Research & Treatment (S.T.A.R.T.) Lab.

His research interests include anxiety disorders, PTSD treatment, cognitive-behavioral interventions, and neuroimaging biomarkers. Recent work explores longitudinal effects of trauma exposure and neural mediators of social buffering in PTSD. His projects are funded by the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), MacArthur Foundation, and others.
