Dr. Tran Tung is a Research Fellow at the University of Adelaide and a senior researcher in the Graphene & 2D Materials Research Hub led by Prof. Dusan Losic. He also serves as a lecturer at the School of Chemical Engineering, Faculty of Sciences, Engineering and Technology. Dr. Tung has been working at the University of Adelaide since March 2015.
Dr. Tung received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees from Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Vietnam, in 2001 and 2005 respectively, and his Ph.D. from Korea University, South Korea in 2010, all in Materials Science and Engineering. He completed postdoctoral work at Korea University (2011), LIMATB at University of South Brittany (2011-2013), and ICPEES at CNRS-Strasbourg University (2013-2014) in France.
Dr. Tung's research focuses on advanced carbon-based nanomaterials and their applications. His primary research interests include:
- Graphene and 2D materials
- Carbon Quantum Dots materials
- Conducting polymers
- Nanomaterials for VOC sensing applications
- Nanocomposite materials for piezo-resistive sensors
- Nanocomposite materials for biomedical applications
Dr. Tung has secured substantial research funding through successful bids for ARC Discovery, ARC linkage, and Internal and industrial projects totaling more than $1.8 million. His research output includes over 100 SCI-indexed articles, 8 scholarly book chapters, and 5 patents, with his publications cited more than 4,900 times and an h-index of 42.
As an academic, Dr. Tung is eligible to supervise Masters and PhD students. He is actively involved in research through the Graphene & 2D Materials Research Hub at the University of Adelaide, contributing to the advancement of materials science and engineering.
