Tracy Pearce

Tracy Pearce is a Distinguished Senior Lecturer in the Department of Romance Studies at Tufts University's School of Arts and Sciences. Her academic journey includes roles as Senior Lecturer (2018–2024) and Lecturer (2003–2018). She holds a PhD and MA in French Language and Literature from Boston University (2000), an MA in French from Middlebury College (1994), and a BA in French from Mount Holyoke College (1993).

Her research focuses on French language, 20th-century literature, and film, with a strong emphasis on pedagogical approaches integrating cultural contexts. Pearce has taught over 140 courses, including advanced French language courses (e.g., 'Adv French Lang: Acting French'), literature surveys ('Romanticism to 21st C. Fr Lit.'), and foundational language classes. Notable courses in 2023–2025 include 'Voices of France' and 'Comp/conv II.'

Her professional service includes membership on the Subcommittee on the European Center in Talloires (2012). Pearce’s teaching spans undergraduate language instruction to advanced seminars, reflecting her expertise in both pedagogy and Francophone cultural studies.
