Torsten Meyer

Dr. Torsten Meyer is Senior Scientist at the Deutsches Bergbau-Museum Bochum (DBM) and Deputy Head of the Mining History Document Center (montan.dok). Concurrently, he serves as Lecturer at Ruhr University Bochum. Previously, he held research positions at the University of Hamburg, Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg, and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich.

His research encompasses three core domains:

• History of Technology and Science (16th-18th century)
• Historical transformation of Post-Industrial Landscapes (20th-21st century)
• Evolution of Construction History (18th-20th century)

Additional focus areas include industrial heritage preservation, mining heritage studies, and authenticity assessment in cultural heritage contexts.

Dr. Meyer maintains active editorial responsibilities, having served on the board of the 'Enzyklopädie der Neuzeit' (2005-2012) and currently co-editing 'Studien zur Geschichte von Technik, Arbeit und Umwelt' (since 2017).
