Prof. Dr.-Ing. Torsten Faber is a Professor at the Department of Energy and Life Science at Flensburg University of Applied Sciences. He leads the Wind Energy Technology Institute (WETI) and oversees the Wind Energy Engineering program. His roles include academic advisory services and institute management. Faber previously led the Rotor Blades and Construction Technology department at Germanischer Lloyd (2003–2010) before joining academia. He was elected Chair of the University Senate in 2022, emphasizing institutional continuity and internationalization.
Research Focus: Structural design of wind turbines (tower foundations, rotor blades), material efficiency, certification standards, and energy transition policy. Projects include the NEW 4.0 initiative for North German energy policy and CROSSWIND for cross-border small-wind solutions.
