Tony Chamoun

Tony Chamoun is a Teaching Professor in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at North Carolina State University. His research focuses on the intersections of biocultural bodies, race, and religious sectarianism through historical bioanthropological frameworks.

Education: PhD in Anthropology from Syracuse University (2024).

Research Interests: Explores how politics of difference manifest in material and biological contexts, particularly through studies of early modern/modern cemeteries in Beirut, Lebanon. Future work examines port cities' roles in shaping diasporic and colonial geographies.

Publications: Includes "Caring Differently: Some Reflections" in Historical Archaeology (2020), and a forthcoming chapter on diasporic bodily durabilities and racialized strangers.

Labs/Teams: Engaged with the Department's Anthropology research group, contributing to interdisciplinary projects in North America, South America, and the Middle East.
