Toni Pitock

Toni Pitock, PhD is an Associate Teaching Professor of History at Drexel University, affiliated with the Department of History, Center for Interdisciplinary Study, and Jewish Studies programs. Her research focuses on Atlantic World trade, Jewish networks, and colonial economic cultures. She holds a PhD from the University of Delaware (2016), MA in History from Villanova University (2008), MSc in Education from the University of Pennsylvania (1998), and a BA in English/Psychology from the University of Witwatersrand, South Africa (1987).

Her work examines how kinship and ethno-religious ties shaped commercial activities in 18th-century Philadelphia’s Jewish community. Current projects include a book manuscript on Jewish networks in the Atlantic World and documentation of Jamaica’s Jewish history through archival preservation. She teaches courses on American History, Atlantic World studies, and Jewish cultural history.

Publications include analyses of David Franks’ imperial commerce, Ashkenazi immigrant experiences, and Philadelphia’s early Jewish settlers. Her digital contributions include entries on Revolutionary crowds and immigrant entrepreneurs.
