Tom Turner

Tom Turner is a Professor of Biology at the University of New Mexico, serving as Curator of Fishes in the Museum of Southwestern Biology and Associate Dean for Research in the College of Arts and Sciences. He is also affiliated with the Center for Stable Isotopes (CSI) as an Advisory Board member.

Education:

• PhD, Florida International University, 1996

His research focuses on ecological and evolutionary processes in arid-land aquatic environments (rivers, springs, streams), with emphasis on developing stable isotope methodologies to analyze century-scale ecosystem transformations caused by land/water/climate changes. He leverages natural history museum collections through time-series approaches to study community dynamics and conservation impacts.

Dr. Turner's work integrates field ecology, isotopic analysis, and museum-based historical data, supported by infrastructure from the Museum of Southwestern Biology and Center for Stable Isotopes.
