Dr. Tom Rushby is a Senior Enterprise Fellow (FTIH) and Research Fellow at the University of Southampton's Sustainable Energy Research Group (Energy and Climate Change Division). He holds a PhD from the University of Southampton’s ESRC Doctoral Training Centre and a Master’s degree in Architecture with a focus on energy, environment, and sustainable development. His research focuses on low-carbon energy transitions, household energy demand modeling, and evaluating energy efficiency interventions. He contributes to teaching the MSc Energy and Sustainability program and has extensive experience in large-scale fieldwork, data analytics, and microsimulation. His work spans collaborations with diverse partners to address energy infrastructure impacts and regulatory frameworks.
Research interests include household energy use patterns, behavior change strategies, spatial/temporal energy demand distribution, and sustainable development. He has published on topics such as heat pump flexibility, urban energy systems, and electric vehicle efficiency. His interdisciplinary approach integrates engineering, policy analysis, and social science methodologies.
