Tom O'Connor

Prof Tom O'Connor is a Professor at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) within the School of Nursing & Midwifery. With over 20 years of experience, he specializes in wound care, patient outcomes, nursing education, and leadership development. He holds a BSc in Nursing (RCSI, 1999) and an EdD from Keele University (2013). His research focuses on innovative educational strategies, wound healing technologies, and gendered identities in nursing. He has secured grants for projects like Stackable Micro credentials in Nursing Home Management (LHP Skillnet, 2024–2026) and Diabetic Foot Ulcer Treatment (Science Foundation Ireland, 2020).

Teaching & Leadership: As Director of Academic Affairs, he oversees educational programs, accreditation, and international collaborations. He has pioneered eLearning initiatives, such as the preceptorship package for nursing education. His teaching spans clinical specialties, leadership, and research methodologies.
