Tom Clark

Tom Clark serves as the Executive Director of the Krause Center for Leadership and Ethics and Assistant Professor of Leadership Studies within the Department of Leadership Studies at The Citadel's School of Humanities and Social Sciences.

Clark's research examines leadership dynamics through military and organizational lenses, with emphasis on ethical decision-making in high-stakes environments. His expertise derives from 30 years of U.S. Marine Corps service where he flew 4,000 combat hours in F/A-18 aircraft across multiple conflicts, commanded aviation units, and served as Strategy and Policy Division Chief at CENTCOM. This operational experience informs his scholarly focus on translating battlefield leadership principles to civilian contexts.

As Krause Center Executive Director since 2015, Clark oversees institutional leadership development programs while integrating his combat-tested perspectives into curriculum design. His work bridges theoretical frameworks with real-world crisis management scenarios drawn from deployments during Operations Desert Storm, Enduring Freedom, and Iraqi Freedom.
