Tine Rask Licht (TRL) serves as the Director of the National Food Institute and Professor in gut microbiology at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU). She leads the Novo Nordisk Foundation-funded PRIMA project and co-leads the virtual Microbiome Health Initiative, uniting international experts to study gut microbiome roles in metabolic diseases.

Her research focuses on food microbiology and the gut microbiome’s impact on health, driving innovations in sustainable food production and risk assessment frameworks. She has authored numerous top-tier publications and supervised over 30 Ph.D. students.
TRL has received the Knight’s Cross for research excellence and the Danisco Prize for advancing food science. She actively participates in public science communication through podcasts, radio, TV, and her book Gut Feelings and Microbiology.
