Tina May Hall is an Associate Dean of Faculty and Professor of Literature and Creative Writing at Hamilton College. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Missouri and an M.F.A. from Bowling Green State University. Her research explores Gothic fiction, environmental themes, and experimental narrative forms. She has published novels such as The Snow Collectors (2020) and short story collections like The Physics of Imaginary Objects (2010), which won the Drue Heinz Literature Prize. Hall’s work blends historical inquiry with contemporary concerns, often addressing climate collapse and human vulnerability.
Her teaching focuses on creative writing (fiction, flash fiction), letterpress, and interdisciplinary topics like monsters in literature and technology’s impact on the body. She has received a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship and residencies at Yaddo and Vermont Studio Center. Hall has served in numerous academic roles, including Director of Creative Writing and Chair of Hamilton’s Literature Department.
