Timothy Scott Brown

Timothy Scott Brown is incoming Chair and Professor of History at Northeastern University's College of Social Sciences and Humanities. With a PhD in Modern European History from UC Berkeley (2000), his academic career spans multiple institutions including Pomona College and the Rachel Carson Center in Munich.

Research Interests

His scholarship focuses on European history through the lens of cultural and political movements, particularly:

• Transnational dynamics of the 1960s global protests
• Cold War Germany's social and cultural transformations
• Environmental history during Cold War periods
• Urban radicalism in divided cities
• Music and media as political tools
