Professor Timothy Power is a leading scholar in Latin American politics, currently serving as Head of the Social Sciences Division at the University of Oxford. He holds a joint appointment between the Department of Politics & International Relations and the Oxford School of Global and Area Studies, where he is attached to the Latin American Centre. His research focuses on democratization, presidentialism, and comparative political institutions, particularly in Brazil.
Professor Power has co-authored numerous influential studies on executive-legislative relations and political institutions in Latin America and Africa. He co-directs the Brazilian Legislative Survey and has received significant recognition for his work, including the 2020 ECPR Presidential Politics Group Best Paper Prize and the 2017 Recognition of Distinction.
