Dr. Timothy McCranor serves as Assistant Dean of Academics and Adjunct Professor at The Institute of World Politics (IWP). He holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from Boston College (2021), an M.A. in Statecraft and National Security Affairs from IWP (2012), and a B.S. from Sacred Heart University (2005). His expertise spans political philosophy, American political thought, and the history of American foreign policy. He teaches courses on thinkers like Aristotle, Machiavelli, Marx, and Nietzsche, and manages IWP’s American Statecraft Fellowship and Civic Thought and Statecraft Fellowship programs.
Research interests include Rousseau’s Considerations on the Government of Poland and co-editing Science Fiction and Political Philosophy: From Bacon to Black Mirror. He has received numerous awards, including the 2024 Outstanding Service Award from IWP and grants from the Jack Miller Center and Carl Friedrich von Siemens Foundation. Tim also contributes to academic technology integration through teaching grants at Boston College.
His professional trajectory includes roles as a Strategic Communications Analyst at SAIC/Leidos and Open-Source Analyst at C-LEVEL Maritime Risks. He currently supports academic program development, curriculum integrity, and student success initiatives at IWP.
