Timothy Gatheral

Dr Timothy Gatheral is a Senior Clinical Lecturer at Lancaster Medical School and a Consultant Respiratory Physician at University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay. His research focuses on integrated respiratory healthcare, bronchiectasis, interstitial lung disease, and translational research in innate immunity. He actively collaborates with academic colleagues at Lancaster University to advance medical research.

Tim holds teaching roles across all years of the undergraduate medical curriculum and co-directs Year 3. He leads a stepped wedge trial evaluating palliative care interventions for COPD patients, demonstrating his commitment to clinical research innovation.

His work bridges clinical practice and academia, with a strong emphasis on leveraging routinely collected healthcare data to improve diagnostic quality and patient outcomes in chronic respiratory conditions.
