Michael Steiner is a Professor of Respiratory Medicine at the University of Leicester and holds the title of Honorary Clinical Professor at Loughborough University. He is a Consultant Respiratory Physician at Glenfield Hospital, University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust, and runs clinics at Spire Nottingham Hospital. His clinical expertise spans COPD, asthma, bronchiectasis, interstitial lung disease, sleep apnoea, and home mechanical ventilation. He leads specialist services including the Pulmonary Rehabilitation audit and the Leicester Complex COPD service.
Education: MBBS (University College & Middlesex School of Medicine, 1990), MD (University of Leicester, 2003). Professional qualifications include FRCP (2007). He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and a member of major respiratory societies (British Thoracic Society, American Thoracic Society, European Respiratory Society).
Research focuses on chronic respiratory disease management, pulmonary rehabilitation, and nutritional support in COPD. He co-leads the Leicester Centre for Exercise and Rehabilitation Science and chairs national clinical audits. He has over 30 years in clinical practice and 20 years as a consultant.
