Education:
- PhD in Biological Sciences
Research Focus: Dr. Sparkes investigates behavioral ecology in aquatic environments, specializing in the parasite-host relationship between Acanthocephalus dirus and Caecidotea intermedius. His work examines parasite-induced behavioral modifications, energy allocation shifts, and mating pattern disruptions in freshwater/marine systems across North America and Europe.
Publication Trends: His 2014-2017 publications consistently analyze field data on acanthocephalan-mediated host alterations. Key themes include multidimensional behavioral modification, neurological correlates of infection, and intra-population variation in host responses, advancing understanding of host-parasite coevolution.
