Tim Wandling is Professor and Chair of the English Department at Sonoma State University. His research focuses on 19th-century British literature, particularly Romantic poets like Byron and the Shelleys, Victorian novelists including Thomas Hardy, and connections between 19th-century literary traditions and contemporary singer-songwriters.
His current book project, 'Living Romanticism,' explores links between Romantic poets and 1970s singer-songwriters. He teaches courses on 19th-century literature in contexts of class, gender, and aestheticism, and has developed innovative curricula examining how 19th-century writers are reinterpreted in contemporary culture.
