About
Dr. Tim Papakyriakou is a Professor in the Department of Environment and Geography at the University of Manitoba, part of the Clayton H. Riddell Faculty of Environment, Earth, and Resources. His multidisciplinary research focuses on carbon, heat, and water cycles in high-latitude aquatic systems, employing field measurements and micrometeorological techniques to study greenhouse gas budgets.
Research interests center on:
- Carbon cycling pathways from inland waters to Arctic seas
- Effects of terrestrial inputs on marine carbon dynamics
- Gas exchange processes using eddy covariance methods
- Climate feedback mechanisms in polar regions
Current graduate students include Nick Decker (MSc), Keilan Ledger (MSc), and Tonya Burgers (PhD), with research spanning Lake Winnipeg to Arctic coastal systems.
