Thorsten Leiendecker

Thorsten Leiendecker is an Academic Program Coordinator and Lecturer at University College Freiburg, specializing in the Liberal Arts Studies (LAS) program. He coordinates the LAS Core curriculum and contributes to academic planning. His roles include program consultation and teaching, alongside administrative responsibilities.

He holds an MA in English Literature and Culture from the Universities of Bonn and Freiburg, and is completing a PhD on the interplay between popular culture and high arts. His research explores cultural hierarchies, digitalization’s societal impact, and structural leadership’s role in technological change.

Key research areas include digital media, cultural studies, and the intersections of high and popular culture. His work spans literary analysis, historical authenticity, and digital humanities through databases on war correspondents and literary anthologies.

Thorsten has coordinated research initiatives like the DFG-funded ‘History in Popular Cultures’ project and the Freiburg Graduate School of Humanities.
