About
Prof. Dr. Thomas Pichler leads the Geochemistry and Hydrogeology working group at the University of Bremen’s Department of Geosciences. His research focuses on interdisciplinary studies of water-rock interactions using chemical, biological, hydrogeological, and engineering approaches. Key areas include toxic element behavior (arsenic, mercury), groundwater contamination mechanisms, and shallow-water hydrothermal systems.
- B.A., Christian Albrechts University
- M.S., Colorado School of Mines
- Ph.D., Ottawa-Carleton Geoscience Centre
Current research emphasizes arsenic and cadmium mobility in aquifers, hydrothermal system dynamics, and analytical method development. His team investigates groundwater quality impacts from energy production and agricultural practices.
