Thomas Michael Allen serves as Associate Professor of Practice in Vocal Arts & Opera at the University of Southern California. An internationally acclaimed lyric tenor with over two decades of performance experience, he has appeared at premier venues including Théatre des Champs-Élyées, Zurich Opera, Staatsoper Berlin, La Monnaie, and the Baden-Baden Easter Festival.
His artistic expertise spans from Monteverdi and Cavalli's early operas through Mozart and Rossini to contemporary works by Philip Glass and Hans Werner Henze. Allen maintains deep commitment to oratorio and art song repertoires, evidenced by two critically acclaimed solo CDs and over 20 commercial recordings. His interpretations have earned praise from Gramophone and Fanfare for their technical mastery and emotional depth.
As an educator, Allen co-founded Body-Mind-Voice Berlin and Balance Arts Opera Berlin, taught at the Amsterdam Conservatory and Israeli Vocal Arts Institute, and conducted masterclasses at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp and Rutgers University. His students consistently achieve international recognition, winning major competitions and performing at leading opera houses worldwide.
