Thomas Hansen

Dr. Thomas Hansen is a Senior Lecturer in Law at the University of Ulster's School of Law and a member of the Transitional Justice Institute (TJI) since 2016. He holds a PhD in Law from Aarhus University (2010) and has extensive experience in international law, human rights, and transitional justice. His research focuses on international criminal law, environmental crimes, and accountability mechanisms, particularly in Africa and conflict zones. He currently holds a distinguished research appointment at Carlos III University in Madrid and is a Senior Research Fellow with the International Council of Environmental Law (ICEL).

His research has been funded by institutions such as the Danish Research Council and the British Academy, addressing topics like the ICC's complementarity regime, British military accountability in Iraq, and standardization in transitional justice.
