Thomas Drake is a Lecturer III in the Educational Studies program at the University of Michigan’s Marsal Family School of Education since 2013. He holds a Ph.D. in K-12 Educational Administration from Michigan State University (2023), completed part-time while working at U-M. His roles at U-M included Manager of Academic Program Development (2015–2022) and Associate Director for Educational Leadership and Policy (2013–2015). Prior to this, he worked for a decade as a teacher and educational leader in underserved communities.
Dr. Drake’s research focuses on reducing racialized and gendered harms in educational systems, examining how organizational structures, policies, and contexts affect marginalized individuals. Current projects explore school principal experiences and teaching evaluations in higher education.
