Thomas Albert Ashby is a Postdoctoral Visiting Fellow at the European University Institute (EUI) Department of History, specializing in early modern political thought, particularly English republicanism and its global reception. He holds a PhD from EUI (2024) for his thesis on Algernon Sidney and serves as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Euronews Project. His affiliations include editorial roles at Global Intellectual History and co-organizing the Association for Global Political Thought.

His research spans Enlightenment studies, early English encounters with Japan, and historiography of intellectual history.
