About
Thierry Roisnel is a CNRS Research Engineer specializing in X-ray and neutron diffraction techniques at the University of Rennes. He currently serves as Head of the X-ray Diffraction Center (CDIFX) at the Institute of Chemical Sciences of Rennes (UMR6226), a position he has held since 2012.
His research expertise spans multiple areas of crystallography and diffraction analysis:
- X-ray and neutron diffraction on powders and single crystals
- Structural refinement and Rietveld analysis
- Microstructural analysis including crystallite size and micro-deformation determination
- Development of crystallographic software tools
Roisnel has made significant contributions to crystallographic software development, including WinPLOTR for powder diffractogram visualization and processing, CRYSCALC as a crystallographic calculator, and participation in the FullProf Suite. His technical skills encompass Fortran 90 programming, HTML, and LaTeX across Windows and Linux platforms.
He maintains active professional connections as a member of the French network ЯÉCIPROCS and continues to support researchers through the CDIFX facility at the Beaulieu campus (Building 10B, office 153).
