Thibaut Rioufreyt

Thibaut Rioufreyt is a Lecturer in Political Science at Université Lumière Lyon 2, affiliated with the Triangle laboratory (UMR 5206). His research focuses on socio-historical analysis of political parties, transnational political sociology, and the epistemology of social sciences. He holds a PhD from Lyon 2 (2012) on the reception of British New Labour ideas in the French Socialist Party. Rioufreyt has led multiple research projects including the ANR 'Réanalyse' and contributed to international collaborations like the ERC Starting Grant 'QUALIDEM'. He is also active in methodological innovation, particularly in qualitative research tools (CAQDAS, transcription software) and open science practices. His teaching spans political theory, comparative politics, and research methodology across institutions like Sciences Po Lyon and Université Jean Monnet Saint-Étienne.

Research interests include the social-liberalism concept, transnational circulation of political ideas, and the history of socialist intellectual networks. Recent work examines governance strategies in Brittany/Wales and challenges in academic data management. He has organized conferences on political idea historiography and contributed to debates on depoliticization and neoliberalism's impact on democracy.

Rioufreyt advises on research ethics, digital humanities, and qualitative methods training. His lab activities include archiving political journals like La Revue Socialiste and digitizing historical sources. Upcoming projects focus on data transparency in social sciences and methodological workshops in Switzerland.
