Theresa Wagner

Theresa Wagner serves as a Scientific Associate at the Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Mathematics, Chemnitz University of Technology since October 2020. She is actively engaged in the BMBF Junior Research Group SALE (fast algorithms for explainable recommendation systems) and holds leadership roles including Vice President of the GAMM Student Chapter Chemnitz and Deputy Equality Commissioner for the Department of Mathematics.

Her academic background includes a Master of Science in Mathematics from TU Chemnitz completed in October 2020. Wagner further serves as a Women in Data Science (WiDS) Ambassador for Stanford University, organizing the WiDS Chemnitz Conference to promote gender diversity in data science.

Wagner's research focuses on scientific computing and data science, particularly in developing fast algorithms for explainable recommendation systems. Her work bridges computational mathematics with practical AI applications, emphasizing transparency in algorithmic decision-making. As a WiDS Ambassador, she actively fosters inclusive communities in data science through outreach and mentorship initiatives.

Administratively, Wagner contributes significantly to university governance as Deputy Equality Commissioner, Women's Representative, and member of the Center for Sport and Health Promotion Commission. She previously served as Secretary and Treasurer of the GAMM Student Chapter and remains an Advisory Member of the Student Representatives of Mathematics, demonstrating sustained commitment to academic service and student advocacy.
