Kerstin Wagner is a Researcher at the Department of Data Science, Beuth University of Applied Sciences Berlin. She joined the university in 2019 as a research assistant in the 'Students Advice – A Data-Driven Approach' project, supervised by Prof. Agathe Merceron and Prof. Petra Sauer. Her work focuses on designing interpretable machine learning systems for Learning Analytics, particularly in developing trustworthy course recommendation systems that engage students effectively.
Before pursuing her Data Science degree (started 2018), she held a Bachelor's (2009) and Master's (2011) in Management Information Systems from HTW Berlin. She worked as a technical consultant in Deutsche Bahn's Enterprise Architecture Management, blending software engineering, management experience, and data science to drive her current research.
Her research interests emphasize Human-Centered Design principles and ensuring transparency in AI-driven educational tools. She collaborates on projects funded by BMBF and other agencies, contributing to advancements in Learning Analytics and trusted AI systems.
