Prof. Dr. Theres Matthieß holds the Junior Professorship for Empirical Democracy Research at Georg-August University of Göttingen since May 2024. Previously, she was Assistant Professor at the University of Trier and a postdoctoral fellow at the Mannheim Centre for European Social Research (MZES). Her research focuses on comparative politics, electoral behavior, and democratic representation, employing methods like text analysis and experimental research. She leads projects such as 'UNEQUALMAND' (DFG/ANR funded) examining political inequalities in Germany and France. Her work includes studies on coalition pledge fulfillment with the Bertelsmann Foundation. She actively engages in political education and public outreach through talks and media contributions.
Education: PhD (Summa cum laude) from Humboldt University Berlin (2020), MA in Political Science (University of Potsdam, 2015), BA in Political Science & Philosophy (TU Dresden, 2012).
