Theddeus Iheanacho

Theddeus Iheanacho is an Adjunct Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the Yale School of Medicine. He holds affiliations with the Yale Institute for Global Health and serves as Director of the Global Mental Health Promotion Program at the Yale School of Public Health. His work focuses on global mental health, health equity, and substance use disorders, with significant contributions to stigma reduction interventions and mental health integration into primary care systems in low-resource settings.

• Education: MBBS (Abia State University, 1998), DTM&H (Royal College of Surgeons, 2003), Psychiatry Residency (Nassau University Medical Center, 2011), and Fellowship (Yale University, 2012).
• Research: Leads the HAPPINESS Project, which integrates mental health care into primary care in Nigeria. His work also includes destigmatizing theatrical interventions in Uganda and telemedicine innovations in sub-Saharan Africa.
• Awards: Hecht Faculty Network Award (2020), Irma Bland Teaching Excellence Award (2017), Yale Clinical Innovations in Psychiatry Award (2014).
• Grants: NIH-funded opioid research (2021), global mental health initiatives in Nigeria and Uganda.
