Terry Smith

Dr. Terry Smith is a Professor of Political Science and Director of the Honors Program at Columbia College, affiliated with the School of Arts & Sciences. He has held significant leadership roles, including Executive Vice President and Dean for Academic Affairs (1996-2015) and Interim President (2013-14).

Education:

• B.A., cum laude, Central Methodist College (Political Science, minors in English and History)

• Ph.D., Michigan State University

Dr. Smith specializes in American politics, teaching courses such as The American Presidency, American Political Parties, and State and Local Government. He is also a prominent political commentator and serves on boards like the Paul D. Higday Mozart Music Trust and Big Brothers Big Sisters.
