Terril Jones

Terril Jones is a Lecturer in the Government Department at Claremont McKenna College. With over 40 years of experience in journalism, he specializes in China, Japan, France, and their political, cultural, and media landscapes.

• Education: B.A. from Pomona College; Knight-Wallace Fellow at the University of Michigan; Kiplinger Fellow in Digital Media and Public Policy at Ohio State University

His research and teaching focus on international relations, political journalism, media studies, and writing. His recent articles analyze U.S.-China dynamics, historical political events, and media coverage of crises.

Terril has received prestigious fellowships, including the Knight-Wallace Fellowship and Kiplinger Fellowship, and has been recognized with journalistic awards like the Loeb Award finalist and AP Managing Editors Award.

He supervises the Global Affairs Podcasting program, trains students in AP style, and emphasizes reporting across domains such as natural disasters, ethics, and international conflict.
