Tasha R. Inniss, Ph.D., serves as Vice Provost for Research and tenured Professor of Mathematics at Spelman College, a liberal arts HBCU for women of African descent. She leads the Office of Research, Innovation, and Collaboration (ORIC), overseeing research development, undergraduate training, data management, and compliance. Her roles also include membership in the National Academies of Sciences Board on Higher Education and Workforce.
Education: Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics (University of Maryland, College Park), M.S. in Applied Mathematics (Georgia Institute of Technology), B.S. in Mathematics (Xavier University of Louisiana, summa cum laude).
Research focuses on operations research, applied statistics, and data science, with a dedication to STEM education equity. She leads Spelman’s Center of Excellence for Minority Women in STEM and previously served as inaugural director of education/outreach at INFORMS and held NSF leadership roles in LSAMP and human resource development programs.
Awards include the Presidential Award for Excellence in Teaching (recognized innovative pedagogy connecting math to real-world applications). Her career spans academic leadership at Spelman (since 2004), Trinity College, and professional society roles.
