Tara Lash

Tara Lash is a Visiting Assistant Professor at the Center for Education in Small Urban Communities within the College of Education at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. With over 25 years of experience in elementary education, she brings expertise in classroom instruction, reading intervention, professional development, and coaching.

Her educational background includes:

• Bachelor of Elementary Education from Wichita State University
• Master of Education Policy, Organization, and Leadership from the University of Illinois

Dr. Lash's research and professional interests center on elementary education, with a focus on reading intervention, mathematics education, and science education for children. She has also worked closely with the UChicago STEM Education Center to support K-12 mathematics and science education. Her work emphasizes practical strategies for classroom instruction and teacher coaching, particularly in small urban communities.

She holds an Illinois Reading Specialist endorsement and is actively affiliated with the Center for Education in Small Urban Communities, which focuses on educational initiatives addressing urban educational challenges.
