Tara Concannon-Gibney

Dr. Tara Concannon-Gibney lectures in literacy education at Dublin City University's School of Language, Literacy and Early Childhood Education, where she chairs the Professional Masters in Education (Primary Teaching). With over twenty years of experience working with pre-service and in-service teachers, she teaches across undergraduate and postgraduate programs.

Her research investigates meaningful literacy teaching in early years, reading comprehension strategies, literacy instruction for English language learners, and literacy/STEM integration. She has led projects including the SCOTENS-funded 'Exploration of the Use of Children's Literature in Early Reading' and collaborative research on plurilingualism funded by An Chomhairle um Oideachas Gaeltachta & Gaelscolaíochta.

Dr. Concannon-Gibney has contributed to national curriculum development through the literature review supporting the update of Ireland's Aistear Early Childhood Curriculum Framework and the national literacy and numeracy strategy. She coordinates professional development programs for partnership schools and has pioneered interactive oral assessments in higher education.
