Tapan K. Sengupta

Dr. Tapan K. Sengupta is a Professor at the Department of Aerospace Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur. His academic journey includes a PhD in Aerospace Engineering from Georgia Tech (1984) and postgraduate studies at the Indian Institute of Science (1981).

His work addresses fundamental questions in turbulence onset, boundary layer instabilities, and mixed convection flows.

His recent publications highlight advancements in fluid stability analysis and numerical methods for aerospace applications. Awards include a Senior Visiting Fellowship at National University of Singapore and a Senior Associate role at the International Centre for Theoretical Physics, Trieste.

Dr. Sengupta has served as a Visiting Professor at Technical University Munich (2001), École Polytechnique (2012), and McGill University (2013). He organized the IUTAM Symposium on numerical methods for transitional flows (2014) and co-chaired the International Conference on Meta-Computing (2012).
