Tao Peng is a Lecturer in the Department of East Asian Languages & Cultures at Columbia University. He joined the faculty in Fall 2021 and teaches Chinese language courses, including First Year Chinese and Second Year Chinese. His office is located in 510 Kent Hall, with office hours on Mondays and Wednesdays from 1:00-2:30 PM.

- Ed.M. in Curriculum and Methodology of Teaching Chinese as a Second Language, Beijing Language and Culture University
- B.A. in Chinese Language and Literature, Hunan Normal University
Research Interests: Tao Peng’s research focuses on modern Chinese fiction, particularly the interactions between language and literature. His interdisciplinary dissertation, “The Emergence of the Modern Chinese Narrator: Studies of Lu Xun, Shi Zhecun, Sun Li, and Wang Zengqi,” combines literary criticism, narratology, and linguistics. He has also coordinated and taught Chinese courses at institutions such as Princeton University, Middlebury Chinese School, and the Princeton in Beijing Summer Program.
Teaching Experience: Prior to Columbia, he held teaching roles at Princeton University, Middlebury Chinese School, and programs in China, demonstrating expertise in language pedagogy.
