Tao Li

Dr. Tao Li is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Cincinnati. Previously held positions at University of Michigan as Adjunct Assistant Professor and research-track faculty. Holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from University of Michigan (2009) and earlier degrees from Tsinghua University.

Research focuses on MEMS/microsystems, biomedical device development, environmental monitoring, and IoT/CPS applications. Active in sensor integration and nontraditional fabrication methods like micro-EDM and micro-USM. Currently serves as Associate Editor for IEEE Sensors Journal, Track Chair for IEEE Sensors 2024, and Executive Technical Program Committee Member for IEEE MEMS 2025.

Key grants include $211K NIH grant for brain circuitry modeling (2023-2025), $1M Ohio BWC grants for workplace safety innovations (EPIC system and smart helmets), and leadership in harsh-environment sensor projects. Active in premise plumbing systems research with NIST partnerships.
