Tania Singer

Prof. Dr. Tania Singer is Scientific Head of the Social Neuroscience Lab at the Max Planck Society in Berlin. As founder of the ReSource Project—a large-scale longitudinal study on mental training effects—she investigates neuroplasticity, mental health, and prosocial behavior. Her pioneering work in Caring Economics bridges neuroscience and economic models.

Research focuses on empathy, compassion, stress resilience, and social cohesion. Current projects include CovSocial (studying pandemic stress in Berlin) and Edu:Social (implementing socio-emotional training in schools).

Her publications demonstrate consistent focus on neuroplasticity mechanisms, contemplative practices, and societal applications of social neuroscience. Recent articles explore mental training effects on brain structure, stress biomarkers, and social behavior.
